Mary M. Thibodeau, 92, of Springvale, died on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Biddeford.

Mary was born in Biddeford on June 8, 1919 to John and Josephine (Tanzella) Giammarino where she grew up and attended local schools. In 1941 she married Leo A. Thibodeau and relocated to Springvale. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2005. Mary was employed at the Goodall Textile Mills in Sanford until they closed in 1954. She went on to work at Allied Shoe in Springvale and then at Dover Shoe until she retired in 1981.

Mary was a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Sanford and was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Daughters of Isabella. She was devoted to her family and particularly cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed spending her summers at Silver Lake in Shapleigh which she had done since 1955. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mary was predeceased by her husband and by two brothers, Frank Pepe and Joseph Giammarino.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Vallier and her husband Robert of Sanford; two granddaughters, Kristin Story of Wells and Jennifer Pomerleau and her husband Troy of North Berwick; three great-grandchildren, Logan Pomerleau, Cameron Pomerleau and Riley Pomerleau, all of North Berwick; three sisters, Adella Neault of Saco, Carmella Giammarino of Old Orchard Beach and Dorothy Grenier of Kennebunk and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10th at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, located on Payne Street in Springvale. Interment will be in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford.
