Gayle J. Verock, 66, of Acton, died on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Gayle was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on May 11, 1945 to Roland and Marion (Vergie) Jacobson. She grew up in Dexter where she attended local schools. When she was in junior high she moved with her family to Andover, Massachusetts where she graduated from Andover High School. After high school she enrolled in college, graduating from the University of Massachusetts, School of Education in Amherst.

In 1969 Gayle married Frank Verock and they would spend the next 42 years together and raised two sons. Gayle and her husband relocated to their home in Acton 33 years ago. She was employed as a teacher for over 20 years at Shapleigh Elementary School. When she was younger, she enjoyed antiquing and traveling with her husband. Their travels included trips to Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Verock of Acton; two sons, Joe Verock of Austin, Texas and Frank Verock and his wife Amy of Burke, VA; a step-son, William Verock and his wife Inga of Prague, Czech Republic, two granddaughters, Olivia Verock of Burke, VA and Ivette Verock of Prague, Czech Republic and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 28th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
