Elaine M. (Callahan) Vachon, 57, of Shapleigh, died Tuesday, December 15 at home after a brief illness.

She was born on November 26, 1952 in Biddeford, the daughter of Carlton and Jeannette (Carrier) Lamb and attended St. Andre’s School.

Elaine was employed by several local manufacturing companies including S.P.M. and Cyro Industries. She also worked for the Strawberry Patch and Sunnyside Restaurant in Springvale. For many years, she worked as a bartender at the Wolves Club in Sanford. She also worked for the Sanford School Lunch Program.

Elaine was a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale.

She was the ultimate caregiver for her family, always there to care for others during illness and death. Family members recalled that she was one of a kind with an amazing heart and that her friendships were lifelong.

Elaine was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Callahan in 1991 and a brother, Michael Lamb in 2008.

Survivors include her husband Ernest Vachon of Shapleigh, a son, John Callahan and his wife Crystal of Springvale, two daughters, Donna Callahan of Hancock, Terry Casey and her husband Colby of Claremont, NH, one brother, Stephen Lamb and his wife Susan of Kennebunkport, 2 grandsons, Corey Robbins of Stonington, Elizabeth Callahan of Springvale, a nephew and several nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 :00 AM at the Notre Dame Church of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, 10 Payne Street, Springvale. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.
